This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Cooperative game by Academy Games. Uses freeing slave as historical theme. Slaves are move on the board, players must try to avoid the slave catchers. + Theme + Historical (educational) background + Logistical puzzle (strategical movement / planning) + Clever colored road network that trigger the slave catchers + Card queue with different historical events and characters (even bad events) + Different characters with different abilities (if one-time ability is used, the character card is flipped with another ability) + Clean artwork (a bit colorless: brown / beige) and iconography + Players spend money to buy tokens which grant abilities (to win the game, tokens must be bought) + Slave market as timer / race game + High and low gamplay (instead of bad event each turn) + Challenging difficulty levels + Scales well with all player counts (even solo) + Rules book # Dice used to determine how the slave captures move # Opposition cards and slave market cards come out in different order each game (replayability) # Theme may be depressing # Alpha leader may be an issue # A tad repetitive in game play - Prone to analysis paralysis because everything is open information and there is only a bit randomness (may have very long playing time) Similar games: * Pandemic

Comparative to other cooperative games, this is an incredibly impressive game; Immersive/unique theme, interesting decisions, outstanding components, etc. But despite that, my apathy towards this game reflects by attitude to co-ops in general. For one, I rarely enjoy the cooperative nature in solving puzzles together... either one player dominates the decision or it drags on as players attempt to express their thoughts; with this game and the complex puzzles it creates... you can have turns that overstay their welcome. The other reason is randomness; while the randomness is well-controlled compared to other games in this genre, it's very influential.

A clever game with a lot of strategy involved trying to balance a number of variables. Good fun, although not sure about frequent replayability.
