This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

:star::star::star: A fast-playing route-building game. I liked my one play, and I would be happy to explore it more.

I was immediately excited about this when it was announced - Power Grid: Trains. I'm glad I got to play it on Tabletopia as it was a huge letdown. Pros: Turns can be really quick. Routes are random so the game could be different for repeat plays. Cons: The map is awful to read. You may have to work multiple turns ahead to optimize your play, and trying to quickly figure out locations on the map from the display of cards is difficult to do and then remember. Lots of downtime just reading board state. Coloring the regions like Power Grid maps and cards to match would have been a huge help. By my second game it was getting better, but still took way too long to find some cities. The action "pick up new travel routes" is a confusing rule as written and could use some clarity, especially for the solo game where you're moving 5 cities instead of 2-3 cities. The randomness of the cards could favor one player if they are lucky with shorter/closer routes. Solo comments: More AP prone than multiplayer. You only have so many actions and if you're efficient enough you just outright lose. Multiplayer comments: Seemed to go a little quicker with less action points to spend each turn. However, it was kind of boring as well if you have to move 6 cities and build two rails and spend 4 turns in a row taking 5 second turns working toward that goal while the other player(s) take longer to think, especially when they are about to finish a route and are looking to pick up a new one. Summary: Can't say that I really had fun playing it. There are other train games that are tighter, with more decisions, more interaction, more functional maps and faster play times. Disappointed but a pass for me.

My only complaint...finding the cities can be challenging. In my house, we use dice of the same colors to match the cities from the 3 available. Sounds confusing but once you read the rules and lay out the cards, you will understand. Match dice to cities and cards numbered 1 -3.
