Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I want to like this game more but have some reservations about it after a few plays. The concept is great but overall I’ve played better games than this one. I’ll still bring it out but it won’t be my “go to” game of this genre.

Positives: Really crunchy little puzzle. Love the action selection and having to balance getting more actions with getting stronger actions or the bonuses for going first to a spot. Also liked the puzzle of your guy moving to the different quadrants and having to place the tiles in a way that maximized both resources and end game scoring. Negatives: It isn't pretty. The components are only ok. I could see this getting samey. I could also see it being overwhelmingly tight at 4 players (I've only played at 2 players). Overall: I was pleasantly surprised by Founders. It was what I want Barenapark to be (the same puzzly nature but crunchier with more bonuses). If you like polyomino games and you like games with multiple ways to score than give Founders a try.

It's a nice spacial puzzle, the action disk bonuses are nice. The shrinking pool of action discs between rounds is less nice since you aren't really building up any engine to take advantage of. The solo restrictions are skewed pretty unfairly. How on earth are you supposed to be able to fully complete your pyramid within just 15 turns? And having two restrictions on top of that just seems like a too big of an ask.
