Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Thinky polyomino game with clean, interconnected mechanics. There seem to be several viable paths to victory and the worker placement bonuses keep the game feeling interactive. Sometimes you want another player to take a space so you get a discount, sometimes you're desperate for the first placement bonus. Good stuff, even if the tile placement part is probably where you'll be spending the least of your brain power.

I am always on the hunt for a polyomino tile-placement game (my fave mechanism) that checks all my boxes. Founders of Teo join other recently highly anticipated but major disappointments — Planet Unknown & Tenpenny Parks. The game wants to restrict you in every way possible and takes away all the joy of putting fun shapes together. The mediocre gameplay is made worse by a full-size box and really boring/lazy art, graphic design & lack of quality components. Considering how uninspiring the production quality is, this would have done better in a dry-erase drawing format with some additional components like Isle Of Cats: Explore & Draw.

An alright polyomino game. Has a little more going on than the average polyomino-focused game which I like. The action selection mechanic is decent and you do get to build a step pyramid like in Teotihuacan, but they aren't especially compelling unfortunately (not to mention going with cardboard tiles means it lacks the toy factor of the chunky wooden blocks!). You won't have that many turns so it feels a little incomplete at the end, though it's not a particularly restrictive feeling game. It's not bad, but it lacking in any particular hook.
