Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Game seemed to be too random with few choices. I compare co-ops to Pandemic and Pandemic has more odds calculations to help in making choices. This one, dice determine where smoke then fire pops up and it just seemed like chasing our tails rather than making strategic choices. Decent game but others in the same category seem a pinch better.

The game is really fun but the amount of dice rolling and matching each die to the grid can be excruciating, especially for setup. I suggest just randomly dropping tokens on the map for setup and always use the little arrows instead of re-rolling invalid placements. These changes will make the game as a whole much more bearable. The miniatures detract from the game as they seem too cartoonish for the more serious theme.

Preordered with Kickstarter. A fun and challenging co-op puzzle game. I find the theme more engaging than Pandemic, and it's lots of fun to see your characters slogging through a towering inferno. Makes a good lunch game!
