Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

A very simple game of collecting resources and fulfilling contracts. It's inoffensive and would appeal if you love the theme of cute dragons shopping in cute shops. But the simplicity of what you are doesn't justify how fiddly the game is. Decisions don't seem very hard and the different options often have pretty similar outcomes. A good deal of player interaction that usually feels a bit random and insignificant.

+ Incredibly engaging visual appeal to every bit and piece of the game screams for attention; Despite the simplistic rules to the game, there is room for clever play. - This game doesn't quite have the strategic options and depth that I typically enjoy in a game, but this is fun for a quick gateway game with the kids. Why it's previously-owned: It's a charming game for sure, but there's just not much to it to make me want to play it outside of the overall look of the game.

Worker placement, resource management, order fulfillment I think the game can be played by newer players. I'm not sure if I love the game because there were some confusing parts to the rules. Like why does "town" refer to shop dragons? It would be easier if town was replaced by shop. Because in a normal world, a park is part of the town. Plus, the video with Quackelope and the designer actually made the game confusing because thematically, the game ends when all dragons are employed but really the game ends when the deck runs out regardless of the dragons left unemployed in the park. I wish the reference card specified "max ARTISNAL dragons" since if I set the game down for a year that's a detail I would need to look up. Wording for Draconic Tonic is confusing and the clarification needed more words. Otherwise, the rulebook is nicely laid out and was easy to reference. I think this game has the potential to be one of my favorite games and if the rulebook or wording was just a little more polished I would have given it an 8.5.
