The rules are a complete mess. I've not seen a rulebook this bad in a while. It's basically a list of the components and pieces with the rules and sequences hidden in each section. Awful rulebook really hurts a great looking game that seems like it would be fun. This thing requires a whole new rewrite of those rules and maybe it's a gem under it all. Was too frustrated to continue.

Rules are a mess. Way to easy. Not enough missions. Generally a good game but really needs some house rules to shine.

A rather basic skirmish game with a few non-combat skill tests thrown in. Only four scenarios in the box and three are just variations on find a thing and get out of here as fast as possible. Whether a scenario ends in rapid, unsatisfying but lucrative success or proves a long slog is down to random chit draws as much as the skill of the players. The player characters are simply done, but well differentiated. The opposition (thugs) and neutral characters (cowboys) are all dumb as mud. Surrounded by the corpses of my friends? Never mind, I can't see an opponent right now, so I'll just carry on standing in plain sight. Turns taken according to advancement on a time track is a familiar euro mechanism and it works reasonably well here. Though at high player counts and with multiple thugs and cowboys active, the down time becomes yawning. Production quality is good. The 3D buildings are good looking, though they do require the players to spend a fair amount of time on their feet, peering down into them. The minis and cards are fine. The artwork evokes a dusty frontier town quite nicely.
