We liked it a lot (played with 11 players) but know this: you better learn the rules before you bring it to a party. Otherwise learning and explaining them to 11 people can be a bit of a pain. Other than that the game is great. Very nice materials and illustrations. Felt a bit like Secret Hitler with more of everything: more factions, more choice, more abilities, more kraken that'll eat you. Also thematically way more accessible than Secret Hitler, if you ask me.

I played the game several times with my family at my sister´s. Player count was 7, ranging from 11 to 51 years. We all enjoyed it and I am looking forward to playing again. Minor issues: - a pirate who gets exposed too early (by search the cabin) will effectively be eliminated which can be frustrating. No one will him assign him as lieutenant or navigator. - if you don´t have an active role in a round, there isn´t much to do or enjoy. - it seems strange that on two fields, a yellow action will win the game for pirates/sailors . the "cut off the tongue" function is overly brutal and will kill the motivation of the affected player - player elimination is always a downer. It is acceptable here because it only occurs late in the game.
