Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

I like racing games best I think on the whole when you are doing some betting on the results and influencing play a bit. This is quirky fun and pretty interesting. Not my favorite type of game but an excellent execution of it. Might be something my daughter would love in a couple of years.

1 play / 4 players LIKE: Very unique game, I liked getting 2 to 3 cards per turn to help build a large, eventful turn, but yet trying to keep moving each turn. It was interesting to see where different animals ended up, and prioritizing destinations really were dependent upon what other players did. DISLIKE: After a while, cards became random, so for example, drawing a '2' card would result in maybe a '4' being displayed for someone to take. The random animal setup led to a corner of the map not being great for traveling. We also had some large downtime at 4 players, which made the game drag when clearly losing. Small mistakes are costly, no catchup mechanisms except for the card hand and draw, which didn't seem to slow anyone down. OVERALL: This is a good game, but sadly difficult to find in the US in the past few years. I really enjoyed traveling around the board and using the different animals. This is a light game, I think after a few plays it could get same-y, but map variety and animal variety are really good. I also think the animal placement really depends on the maps, it might need recommendations for every map combination. Similar games: Oracle of Delphi, Ethnos (somewhat), Elfenland

first impression: unexciting race with old school artwork games like [gameid=217372] have much more tension
