Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Looks amazing on the table. Great building components! Really fun to build up and out as you create the shared cityscape. Lots of interesting scoring opportunities. I read about complaints regarding drawing two contract cards at a time to choose just one, but if you are completing buildings at a decent rate, then you'll be drawing lots of contracts, so I don't see that as a problem. I definitely do recommend changing out the tile draw bag though. The one provided with the game is too small for all of the tiles, and definitely not comfortable for larger hands to draw from.

Alex Cutler is the designer of this game. His name is, and has always been, the only name on the front of the box and the rulebook. Please don't malign an innocent man and attempt to sabotage his career because of the actions of another.

Nice light tile placement game. Game play revolves around trying to set up and claim locations that score more points for you than it can do for opponents. Point scoring can be swingy due to the luck of the draw for tiles and objective cards (and the combinations required by the objectives). The game seem to reward being opportunistic more than long term planning (because it's hard to make long term plans that don't rely on the luck of the draw). The game plays fairly fast and doesn't outstay it's welcome. I would have preferred a less random way of getting tiles and a public display of objectives to draw from. The game has a nice presence on the table and the pieces are fun to fiddle with.
