Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

This game has nothing that makes it appealing and wants me to play more, forgettable gameplay with some fiddliness
Across the Rhine
KS January 2021 - my first game of 2021. Quite involved solo rules. A flowchart might have been helpful. Lots of mdifferent actions available and I love games where scoring goes into the hundreds
charlest
Very heady game which requires some work to setup a series of actions to eventually sell resources you've collected. It can definitely be a brain burner of an economic game. The central action card system is the best aspect, as each card is precious and each action crucial to your success. It can feel a bit convoluted and unintuitive trying to recall whether you need a specific color or symbol for an action, but the player aid is pretty solid once you get used to the iconography. Still, after a three hour game you will likely need to still refer to the aid due to the complexity of the engine. It can feel like work at times and this is a heavier game than it may appear. There is a sense of accomplishment though when you spend several actions setting up markets, manipulating demand, and offload a bunch of human junk for a big payout. My favorite aspect is how it attempts to commodify Human Culture and treats it as a means of commerce. Long after we're gone we're still identified by our stuff.
