Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Again the expansion brings the game up in the standings. Just enough perks to make this a great expansion.

Another excellent (but expensive) set of add-ons for a great base game. Brings it to 6p, adds a very clever market with a trade mechanism and, if you're really wanting something different: special animal powers. Seamlessly works with Pearlbrook. Plus...Cardinal meeples!

Everdell now with up to six players (horrible idea). No real expansion with a new, altered gameplay. It´s a bundle of more or less useful "more of the same"-modules that can be combined with basic game and other expansions. New Forest- and Special Events-cards are better than the originals. The Garland Awards are nice. The Market Location is quite interesting, we use it sometimes. The different players´ powers try to establish asymmetrical gameplay. They are completely unbalanced, some are not to beat, others don´t make any sense at all, we never use them. Really sloppy! Not the real thing.
