Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

Interesting theme and the flow of the game makes sense. There are a decent chunk of rules, but they didn't feel like too much. Balancing resources from the old dying planet to the new, healthy planet is quite clever. Having two separate resource pools per player is neat (though oddly confusing at times when looking at players across the table). Getting ships to move things back and forth makes sense and works. The progress track which shows your civilizations flow from one planet to the other is one key element to the game and works really well. There are two versions of the game... the race game and the points game. I believe race is recommended for a first play and I felt that made a LOT of sense; the points version probably would have been overwhelming. Played with 4 players and it felt right (despite BGG currently showing 2 and 3 as better options).

First play impressions. The rules are not intuitive, turns are quite unpleasant, lot of rule clarifications throughout the game. The moment of flying ships is extremely satisfying, what a shame it only happens up to 4 times in a game. Admittedly, we learned the rules along the way, and it took a while to grasp everything. I want to give this a second chance.

Steter Mangel.
