Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Good dice Game, but for me i feel all time during The Game He plays like a race game. You run to build, you run to complete The tunnels and finally you still running to put your last Stars in The favors of The Cities. I like The citzens, cause them put a lot of good changes during The Game. Good one, but nothing beyond that.

Abstract: An innovative worker placement game that introduces worker bumping: players cannot block certain spots with their workers. A bumped worker is returned with a reward instead. The game also uses different (intelligent) types of worker. Thoughts: I really like the unusual, dystopian theme. I also like different types of worker. I do not like how dice rolling is implemented in this game - I think it does not matter over the course of the game, however, it still feels luck-prone. Similar games: * Circadians: First Light (thinky dice placement game, some blocking player interaction) * The Artemis Project (quite quick dice placement game with some mean player interaction)

Many nice things to say about this game - and can only agree that the components are marvelous and add to the enjoyment. It feels different from other worker placement games. For example, I very much enjoy the rolling to determine if you lose workers or not. It obviously curtails getting too many. And it adds to pulling off workers - do you pull them all and risk a large number or pull a few and ensure continued use? The beginning recruits really determine much of how you play - and getting different allegiances is (apparently) important. There however is luck in two significant ways: rolling doubles (which allows extra turns) and drawing artifacts (as two matching are as good as any three) - either may leave a feeling of unfairness. It can also become clear concerning the winner well before the game leaves the table - as you can at best only place 1 star on the board per turn. Still, an enjoyable game that should see a few more plays yet.
