From the mists of war, a pair of great nations rise together like a two-headed giant. They march across the land crushing their foes. As one, they combine their strengths, thwart their enemies, and achieve a triumphant destiny.
Ettin is a 2-8 player card-drafting game in which teams of two compete against each other in fierce skirmishes and fast global conflicts. Your alliance shares strategies, defenses, and resources as you face off against neighboring enemies. You can even expand to 16+ players with multiple copies of the game!
Each of the eight unique nations has a different focus and playing style, designed to be a formidable opponent or a reliable friend. Pairs of enemies and allies play at the same time, making even the most climactic global conflicts between eight players shockingly quick.

The Innocent
There are so many things I love about Ettin. In addition to being a solid addition to one of my favorite genres — the lane-based area majority game — it's also a fantastically different approach to the large group game, effectively creating a "chain" of allies and enemies. The only thing hampering my appreciation is its spurious balance, a factor I don't often comment upon, but one that's caused a number of my plays to go awry. Still, there's a lot to like here, and I'm eager to see more from Ken Shannon and Ettin. Read my review here: https://spacebiff.com/2020/03/10/ettin/

A reasonable idea but pretty dull in practice. You are just not making that many decisions, and the ones you do make are often not that interesting due to lack of choice or lack of information - playing a lot of face-down cards usually doesn't do anything for me and this is no exception. The rules on battles are unclear on many points, which is a problem since that's most of the game.

Great play, better with more people than fewer but still plays well. Avoid 3 players but otherwise its already highly requested at my table. Can't wait to play again
