Era: Medieval Age
45m - 60m
1 - 4 Players
Ages 8+
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

A follow up to Roll Through the Ages with dice-rolling to build your city (or civilization). Like RTtA, this game packs a good amount of game into a small amount of decisions. Era includes buildings that are actually constructed on a board, providing the need to spatially organize them and the satisfaction of seeing your city grow which wasn't really present in RTtA. I wondered if the extortion part of the game (stealing resources from others) would be an issue, but it didn't seem to play a major role... at least not in the 2 player game.

This to me is what Tiny Towns should have been. It's challenging and fun to build your kingdom and physically see it come alive. However, the wife and I don't prefer "mean" games and there is quite a bit of "take that" in this one. Plus this game defines fiddly. There are so many pieces to sort out; but it does come with a nice insert/tray to hold them all in. Above average, wouldn't hesitate to play again. Probably not purchasing.

Funny, always different, it requires a great mix of strategy and luck with dice rolling. The purpose? Build your medieval castle better than your friends!
