Cave Paintings adds a 5th action space and a new mechanic involving connecting the dots on a new cave painting board. Each player gets their own board and enclosing areas of the animal on this board will give either instant one-time or eclipse phase income bonuses. There are also new cards to shuffle into the different deck types that also allow you to fill in dots and connect those dots. This was the first expansion we tried, and is probably my favorite of all of them. I found the concept of cave painting really added to the theme. It can provide tons of benefits if you actually devote some of your attention to filling it in. That said, it is yet another mechanic added to a game already drowning in different mechanics, and everything it gives you could probably be obtained with less effort through the other actions. Therefore, even though I like it, I probably wouldn’t want to use it every time.

Teljesen felesleges és érhetetlen kiegészítő. Nagyon örültem mikor láttam, hogy új akciómező kerül bevezetésre, de ez a vonal abszolút zsákutca. Társaságunkban soha senki nem használta a rajzolást.

I feel this expansion rewards players who focus on it and as it can lead to a lot of combos, activating additional benefits and and a lot of points (24) at end game for completing the board. It's not really worth dabbling in as your actions would be better spent where you are stronger. The down side is Endless Winter can already be a pretty analytical game with managing multiple tracks, positioning, activation spots, megalith placement benefits, and this adds a completely new board that cranks the analysis up to a whole new level. Recommended if you want to add a lot more choices to your gameplay experience, but it will add time, especially the first few plays.
