Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

With the new additions, it really feels like a DM-less session. These improvements make the game better:traps make sense now, an actual campaign mode, variable amount of monsters per room. Now, how can we add these improvements to the earlier games? Great entry!
Broodstar
Solo mode: Yes Theme: Fantasy Footprint: Large For me, this game is a perfect balance between quick play, simple non legacy campaign, character development and fantasy setting. Some components are very good, others are just decent. For example: - The cards are a little thinner than the cards from other games. - The map tiles are very good, and the cardboard is thick. - Also the monster boards are thick and nice. - The miniatures are ok. They are not standard D&D miniatures, they have less details and the quality is not that high, but they work fine. - Rules and adventures are nicely written. To give it a little more personality, I've bought the detailed D&D miniatures for the 5 heroes and got them painted.
