Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

SOLO PLAY: 1 Player Minimum 5 Player Maximum Very cool. I love the new traps! Monster icons on the tiles. Not every exploration results in a monster...but at times you will find more than one monster. Looking forward to playing all the campaigns.

Wow! To preface my comments, I love co-ops and I love D&D. I also really liked the first three games in the system, but they were missing something - a campaign mode. This game nails it. Theme - great linkage to the Princes of the Apocalypse D&D campaign. Campaign mode seems exactly what I'm looking for in that after you hit second level you can still enhance your character. The game can still be brutal with the Encounters, but you seem to be able to gain enough space to avoid the worst. The will put Descent down further on my gaming list. I love this game! Number two in my collection!
