Dune: Ixians & Tleilaxu
Expansion of:
Dune
2 - 5 Players
This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Has some good additions (tech tokens are usually fairly interesting) but also a lot of nonsense that makes me want to play without this more often than with. The Tleilaxu are absurd and not fun - adds a huge amount of completely unforeseen randomness without any depth - and the new Treachery cards are far too powerful for their own good (poison blade can go die)
F3nctional
Tleilaxu feel like a natural fit into the economy of the game. The Ixians are a bit too good. I dislike the addition of the new cards. I think they unbalance the game, and add too much variance to the deck. Base Dune deck is best Dune deck.

Good but not essential expansion. I like the Tleilaxu faction; the Ixians I can take or leave. I like the new cards and the Tech wheels are a nice addition that adds an new win condition. The problem for me the 6 factions in the base game are so perfectly balanced, I can't think of ever playing without any of them.
