Dune: Ixians & Tleilaxu
Expansion of:
Dune
2 - 5 Players
This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Good but not essential expansion. I like the Tleilaxu faction; the Ixians I can take or leave. I like the new cards and the Tech wheels are a nice addition that adds an new win condition. The problem for me the 6 factions in the base game are so perfectly balanced, I can't think of ever playing without any of them.

Ix and Bene Tleilaxu factions are a good addition, and a fun change of pace. Not entirely sold on the "technology" tokens, as they don't seem as intensely thematic as the rest of the game. As with the base game, an aesthetically pleasing and physically high-quality expansion is marred by embarassingly poor copy writing for the rulebook and faction reference sheets.

Due to its length and nature, Dune will always stay an event game rather than a competitive game for us. And thus, we rather like to explore new factions and new memorable interactions than in-depth exploring the current meta.
