Expansion of:
Dune

2 - 5 Players

This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding

The worst expansion of the three, sadly I can't go over 5/10 and was considering even less. Sometimes I can accept using these factions, but will never use included variants. CHOAM is probably the best thing in the expansion, but that is not saying much. They are a very robust faction that is quite relaxing to play. However, their list of advantages is just a mix of everything, and I don't think the essence of "CHOAM" was captured well at all, they are just bland. 7/10. Richese demand high-skill and a lot of focus to be played well, and they are quite stressful. Their integration is also not seemless and they do have things that stand out. The one thing going for this faction is that you really do feel like you are bankrupt - so at least the theme fits. I don't really want to play them but I can sometimes, 5/10. Stronghold cards provide very minor bonuses and are usually forgotten. Not worth the attention needed. 2/10 Leader skills do have an impact, but they demand a loooot of attention and a shift of focus. They might be fun to try once or twice but honestly they are too much work for the benefit, 3/10.

The expansions add interesting pieces to the game, but do take some getting used to. I felt the Richese were a little weak, and the CHOAM were interesting, but not dissimilar to the emperor.
