Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

We didn’t like it. We didn’t even make it to the final scenario. Everyone agreed they didn’t care about the end, and we just chucked it. There just really wasn’t any story to get us hooked. The idea was cool. Art was nice. Components were fine. It was just needed more of a story.

Thematic, interesting, cool concept. Unfortunately dry, but certainly not an awful experience. Hoping to see this unique game thing pushed to the max in future titles.

Don't often play or enjoy this type of game, but Discover: Lands Unknown is a good one. It's easy to play, with many scenarios and nice player interaction. A rare game in that its semi-coop aspect actually works. A ton of game here for less than $20 on Amazon.
