Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

I enjoyed my play of the game. It really does qualify as a 4X game, though very loosely. The retail components are fine. However, the amount of cubes (tents) an serviceable but uninspired graphic design on the tiles and cards seems to just suck the life out of the game. I came away with a very abstract feeling. I think if you feel like Deus is a great, light civilization game then you'll enjoy this as well. As they both have an abstract look to them. There are definitely good decisions to be made but more like on the level of an abstract game like checkers. The technology cards provide a lot of variability. I'd think this would play best with the higher player count. I'm not sure even the KS upgraded components would change my feelings about the overall feel. A very solid game but one that seems to fall in-between a Euro and a straight abstract game and doesn't really do enough of either.

Not my favorite solo style (where the AI kinda gets to do what it wants) but it's actually is one of the better implementations of it. It still doesn't exactly mimc a human, but it's close enough. Certainly going to give it another try.
