Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

My only complaint comes from the fact that my group abuses the Servitors of the Outer Gods in order to cripple new players. I realize this is an internal issue, so I don't hold it against the game itself, only the jerks that I play with.
Entropology
Feels like a classic case of more for the sake of more. (In Cthulhu Wars, shocking!). This game isn't a paragon of balance, but throwing in milestones that are common across all the factions, nah. It's not seriously unbalanced (that I can tell), but some of these are clearly easier for some factions than others. This game already is well situated in the turns vs spellbooks ratio, this just kind of throws a spanner into the middle of that.

(updated rating after 40 games) Servitor of the Outer Gods : jam other players' gameplay, bot very fun to have in play - 1 Dimensional Shambler: Useful as a tactical response/threat adds a lot of options. - 10 Star Vampire: a bit pricey (to move and fight with) and random to operate - 5 Elder Thing : 3 strong units with a situational tricky power - 8 Azatoth : ads a lot of randomness to the game and undermine the strategic qualities of the game - 2 Neutral Spell books - adds flexibility but creates some balance issues with some faction - 4
