This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

Crossing Oceans is yet another rondel game from Mac Gerdts. A remake of Transatlantic and this one is better for me with a map, seeing the ships and trading posts on it to reflect what is happening in the game. The market to buy ships is easy to follow and works well. The interaction between players on the board can be direct, but isn't overly so for this Euro. Gerdts does tie his games to a real theme and his inclusion of the detail about all of the real, historical ships in the game is neat and something I appreciate. The Blue Riband action and function in the game creates a neat timing mechanism that is regularly changing between ships and players throughout the game. I quite like this game and hope to own and/or play it more.
John Weber
Solid sequel to TransAtlantic, its progeny. Switching from the card-driven Concordia mechanic to the rondel-driven Imperial mechanic has improved the game, along with the cashing in of the contracts option prior to selecting an action. The graphics (with the world map) is an improvement, plus the Blue Ribands are a bit easier to get given you can spend a second coal to win one even if tied. Overall, recommended over the original.
