Crossing Oceans
60m - 90m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 14+
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

2022. 2-4p, 60-90m. Mac Gerdts. Re-imp of TransAtlantic but you can also buy the "Crossing Oceans" board separately to play using components from TransAtlantic. Overall comments are mixed but trending negative with primary thoughts being that it feels repetitive, plays longer than you'd like, and the rondel is inferior to other rondel games. BGGer tool says: Removes some of the fiddly rules from Transatlantic but unfortunately also removes the cards, which were the interesting bit, and replaces them with a rondel. Rondels can be fine but this one isn't - it rarely offers an interesting choice and the game was very dull as a consequence. BGGer Webbe says: It's all about getting the boats with the same flag over and over again. Not very dynamic. Transatlantic is much better.

Crossing Oceans is a streamlined version of Transatlantic. The rules became a little smoother, the action cards were replaced by the Mac Gerdts rondell. Good game, but it's too close to Transatlantic to own both.

On balance, I think I prefer Transatlantic; this version smooths out the edges a little too much, and the gameplay feels significantly samey.
