Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Interesting game. I haven’t really played anything like this before. There’s a good amount of luck in this from the cards and dice but there is a decent amount of strategy. I don’t think this will see much play because I feel it needs more variability to push it up. As of right now, I would have to be in the mood for it, but it’s not a bad game by any means, there’s just more out there I would rather play. Likely best with 2

The game is kind of a mess. It feels like the designers wanted to stuff as many mechanisms into the game as possible without regard to the quality of game-play. My biggest complaint is the tacked on extra phase where players place their workers (dice) but then have to go around again to activate said workers (dice). I don't see how activating workers when placed would have detracted from the game in any way, save for the doubling of game time when played by RAW. The Code Breaking segment serves only to add time to the game as AP prone players try to derive all possible combinations for the code tiles. There is surely a more streamlined way to handle this horrible time-sink of a phase. My final complaint is that the map is an unattractive, claustrophobic, cube-pushing mess. Many of the cities are very close together, and there are no printed boundaries between cities. After a few rounds of player movement, it is frequently hard to tell with certainty which cubes are attached to each city. Say what you will about my review. I won't be playing this game again.

Fun game, but missions being worth such a wide range of points feels bad. Either give secondary objectives to increase a mission value to a tighter range or have intel cubes somehow contribute points. Would play again. Superb art/components. Briefcase icon being wild should be in noted on player shield.
