Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

As any game of European football should be, this is a game about positioning. While this is obviously true from the first few moves in the first game, I didn't quite realize how powerful this would be. At first, we were rolling a lot of intercept dice. And then suddenly, we weren't. There are still plenty of dice rolls, but once you understand the positional play of the game, it's incredibly dynamic with plenty of back-and-forth play, it's tense, and it's fun. Drafting your team at the beginning of the game is great since it's from a limited pool (4 players) that we 'horseshoe', switching up each time until we have 15 players. Even after 11 games there's still plenty to explore here. Once we started adding some of the more nuanced rules the game-space really opened up. Great design that deserves more love.

football manager on a board. fun gameplay full of nuance. the only game that understands that football is a game not only of skill but first and foremost of manipulation of space.

Might be the perfect game! I am very impressed with how it captures the tactical aspects of the match. Brilliant!
