Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Pleasantly surprised. I really like the idea of the engine not getting infinitely bigger, but rather stuff aging out. And workers that get used as well. Works really well without any extra cruft. Minimal player interaction, but not zero.

Game is far too long for what it is (took around 2.5 hours for a 4-player game). No feeling of progression, the engine you form on turn 4 is the same one you're running end-game due to having to cover chrome machines and no other permanent modifications. Core ideas are fascinating, it's just missing something in the implementation.

Use your engineers to add machines to your factory and run them while fighting against the inevitable breakdown from all the steam. Recommend 2-3 players. Good: * Engine breakdown is a refreshing response to snowballing that occurs in many engine-building games. * Constant pivoting and shifting engines provides very interesting strategy. * Timing running your factory to recall engineers while getting your machines ready to run. * Ending turns cost progressive points to take. Not so good: * Theme is fairly dry. * Game timer seems to run just a little long. * Maintenance as a first phase can be a little tricky to teach.
