In Action Point (AP) Allowance System games, each player is allotted a certain amount of points per round. These points can be spent on available actions, until the player does not have enough remaining to "purchase" any more actions.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Games with partnerships offer players a set of rules for alliances and teams. Partners are often able to win as a team, or penalties are enforced for not respecting alliances

Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.

Conan is a one-vs-many skirmish game that utilizes Euro-style resource management along with dice based combat. I like: + Theme (dark fantasy, anti-heroes) + Components (minis) + Artwork (great overall table presence) + Battles often feel epic + The Stamina system: each character has a certain number of energy crystals, stamina, or gems they can use to move extra spaces, attack, defend, re-roll dice, manipulate objects, throw objects to each other + Player turn order: characters can alternate their actions as they see fit + Asymmetric Overlord system: the overlord has their own crystals to manage, getting a set number back each turn, as well as tiles representing enemies to activate + Combat is largely dice-based, the game does a great job of allowing you to mitigate it + The skill and combat system has no modifiers, instead special colored dice are used + Different character abilities Neutrals: # Simple skirmish mechanics which may lack depth for some players # Very competitive # Racism and sexism big part of the theme # Conan is a very strong character (which fits the setting). All other companions are rather unspectacular in comparison. # A lot of scenarios available I do not like: - No rules for some Kickstarter content. The players are supposed to come up with their own custom, balanced scenarios. - Balance isn't perfect in many scenarios and lopsidedly favor one side - Rules need interpretation - Big game box - Kickstarter exclusives Similar games: * Batman (different theme, very similar gameplay, far more accessible, fixed issues) * Zombicide series * Doom, Descent, Imperial Assault
