Coimbra introduces an innovative new dice mechanism in which the dice players draft each round are used in multiple different ways and have an impact on many aspects of their decision making. While there are many paths to victory, players should always seek to optimize their opportunities with every roll of the dice. Combined with ever-changing synergies of the citizens, expeditions, and monasteries, no two games of Coimbra will ever be the same!

Very solid Euro that I wouldn't mind exploring some more of. Feels in the same weight as Marco Polo; I like the variety of the cards and how the dice drafting effects multiple things (how much you're paying, what income you're generating).

A gorgeous game with inventive and well-thought-out mechanics should be an 8 right? I'm not sure if it's quite there because after three plays I can't tell if there are a wide variety of winning strategies, or if there are certain combinations that are just better. While one game went down to the wire, two were blowouts with a player finding a super-powerful combo. I will have to play more to see if it's just a high skill-cap or if there are other reasons for these disparities.

Excellent medium length game that works well at all player counts but can have some brutal moments at 4 for the type of game it is. The dice drafting ordering/cost balancing and then the impact on income is an extremely satisfying mechanic that really makes the game shine.
