Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Clash of Cultures Monumental Edition is truly outstanding, and it has swiftly become my new favorite board game, dethroning my previous top pick and as expected a Civilization game. This game offers the best 4X civilization board gaming experience. It can be played in either a shorter or a longer format. What makes it stand out is the sheer fun, intrigue, excitement, and engagement it offers. It's one of those rare games that I never get enough of it and I find myself wanting to play it repeatedly. History buffs will particularly appreciate this game because of its meticulous attention to detail. Every technology, leader, and civilization is faithfully represented as it was in real historical events centuries ago. In CoC ME, you step into the shoes of a leader from ancient history, guiding your people through a series of challenges, including military threats, cultural dilemmas, barbarian incursions, unexpected twists, a dynamic environment, and limited choices, all while striving to make the best decisions from countless possibilities. Despite its complexity, the game's rules are surprisingly straightforward. The exploration of map tiles adds an exciting dimension to the gameplay, while the unique abilities of civilizations and characters ensure high replay value. Every action feels thematically relevant, and the wonders and rewards are well-defined. One of the game's standout features is its focus on cultural influence, which is seamlessly woven into the gameplay. The asymmetric attributes of civilizations and leaders add variety to each playthrough, motivating players to pursue distinct objectives. Battles in the game involve calculated risks and rewards, mirroring historical realities, and rely more on strategy and theme than luck. In terms of components, CoC is a visual treat. The player boards, miniatures, and other elements are beautifully designed, evoking a sense of playing the Age of Empires computer game. In summary, this game offers an immersive, historically rich, and strategically engaging experience that's a must-try for any board game enthusiast.

The civ game I was looking for: exploration is fun, you can negotiate, make alliances and treasons, you should better adapt your strategy according to your civ, terrain and neighbors; and there is no magic recipe to win...

I had a lot of fun playing this game. The downtime between turns could sometimes be long but I like all the mechanics going on in this one.
