A clever game with several modes of play. Others have disparaged the artwork; I think it’s appealing, functional, and very thematic.

Perfectly fine tile laying game with truly some of the worst usability I've seen in a game in a minute. The tiles are busy while also being unclear at first glance as to what they do. Thematically, the art direction makes sense for the era and designs the game is trying to portray, but you have to keep in mind that cities aren't actually built tile by tile in a competitive board game. It is a shame, because the shared pool of citizens and nobles that you pull from with the people sitting next to you is actually a great mechanic that puts some extra, almost race-like pressure on every player, but the tile design is so unapproachable that I wouldn't ever have the patience to try to mess with this game again. The teach was way more difficult than it needed to be because, even when pointing to different icons on the tiles and roads they made, some players still couldn't see what was important on each tile.

really nice components and nice tile laying game! It's a really fast game with enough strategic options
