Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board

After a couple plays, one solo and one 2P, this seems like a nifty mini RPG deckbuilder. I tend not to like deckbuilders with common draw piles (like Ascension and Star Realms), but there are enough (10) cards on display that there is usually something that matches what I need to add to my deck. I love that there are 6 different characters with unique starting decks. The game was pretty easy to learn and teach if you already know deckbuilders. Only the rules for Allies and Items were tough to understand from the rulebook, but I think I have them down now and they are easy enough. For as tiny as the box is, this takes up a pretty decent amount of table space. I do wish the box were tall enough to stack the cards sideways, which would allow the expansion to fit in. My only moderate complaint is that the quests feel VERY abstract. That is expected for this type of game where you "play symbols", but even the flavor text didn't help. I can see coming up with custom quests later, but there is sufficient variety for now. I do like having the two different types of multi-part quests. The quick playtime is a plus. (I have too many excellent adventure games that take too much time to get played often.) After several plays, I can see this getting old, but there is also the cooperative campaign expansion. For now, I am excited for more adventures and it is quick and compact enough that I expect many more.

Kickstarted Not 100% sure what to think about this one. Its a fairly well designed game and for the component count there is a good amount going on. Really need to try this one with more then two players.

Like a mini mage knight? Only played 2 players game. Great solo. Rules are a bit fiddly, but once you know them, they'Re fine! I enjoy it solo too.
