This game's simplicity makes it so brilliant. It is the most pure form of negotiation and area control in a board game. Chinatown is an excellent gateway game that can be enjoyed by both beginners and veterans alike. Because it is so heavy on its social element, Chinatown's fun can be highly dependent on its crowd. With the right players, Chinatown is a strong contender for one of my favourite board games of all time. It really should be rated higher on BGG!

Pretty fun bargaining and trading game. My first blush is that it is a little luck dependent, particularly for the building spaces, but I could be wrong. It is also quite a quick game, which is nice.

121231 I've discovered Quo Vadis. And I realized the problem with Chinatown - its too long for what it is. 120910 Just lost interest in playing the game. Not sure why, maybe its a little too freeform? 100501 Negotiation stripped to a bare minimum. I'd be curious if anyone could pare it down any more and still keep keep up the intensity.
