Century: Eastern Wonders
30m - 45m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 8+
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Turns Century: Spice Road into a slower, more thoughtful pick-up and deliver game. Not necessarily an improvement.

Century: Eastern Wonders feels like a streamlined and much faster Islebound. I'd rather play Eastern Wonders for the same feel than the atrocious Islebound. Apart from that point, Eastern Wonders looks different but plays exactly as the Spice Road card version. Upgrading and downgrading cubes by abusing a combo you built earlier. Absolutely no theme or excitement. The latter being the worse culprit for the game's future. After using all your cubes to attain a desired but rare brown cube you're void of any others. So you start your cycle again. Obtain yellow and red cubes that you just had prior to upgrading them for brown. Boring!

2021/04/09 - 3 plays Rating as the whole Century system 5.5->8 1 play - 3p A bit hard to say, didn't like the end game phase, because you know who is going to win and it's difficult to prevent it, but you still have to go through the motions. But perhaps it's just inexperience. In any case the spacial aspect is very nifty, I'm curious to try the combined mode.
