Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Awesomeclaw
A big improvement over Spice Road - an interesting and enjoyable game, although let down a bit by how fiddly it can be to set up. I'm yet to try any of the mixed games but I'm keen to.

Variable board - Check Decent player interaction - Check One of the better pick up and deliver games - Check So, how does this differ from Century Spice Road? A lot. Same concept. Trade spices to manipulate what you have so you can purchase a victory point chip. That is essentially where the similarities end. This to me is kind of like if Akrotiri had a child with Century Spice Road. It is a pick up and deliver game. On your turn you start by moving (one space for free or two spaces for free if you have that upgrade tile) and once you have taken your move step you can either gather resources (two yellow cubes) or build a trading depot that you can use to trade in your spices for other spices. This is a bit of a longer game than Century Spice Road but well worth being in your gaming library. Not to mention, this is a stand alone game but you can also mix in Century Spice Road as well to expand upon it.

Surprisingly not as good as the first part. Extra complexity doesn't bring anything new or original on the table, so it feels like something done already. But maybe I'm too harsh.
