The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

First impression: Pretty fun game with interesting mechanisms. Might be a little unbalanced and a bit too much luck involved, but still very enjoyable rather quick game.
Chronos1
In this gem you will be protecting the city from foreign invasion by the Spanish in 1579, the Dutch in 1632, and the French in both 1673 and in 1794. The players play the commanders defending the different parts of the city. By gathering resources they must build up their defences in order to prevent a breach in the walls. These can be different types of troops and fortifications, local craftsmen and - if all else fails - they can call upon the assistance of the Holy Stella Maris, protectress of the city. For every army that the defenders manage to defeat, glory points are earned. Breaches in the wall are penalized with the destruction of your ramparts, walls or citadels - fortifications which you will have to build up from scratch again. Now, what is there to like? Plenty! -I like the fact that there are not many components. -The artwork is nicely done - There is plenty of interaction between the players struggling for the beste defences and which besiegers they get on their side of the city. -The mechanic of being able to put the enemy either on your side of the walls OR on that of your opponent is terribly simple, yet such an effective ingredient for the fun and excitement. -You are building the defences of the city for the next 400 years -The French besiegers in 1794 are stronger and more sophisticated than the old Spanish besiegers of 1579 so the game will become more challenging as the centuries pass by...so you learn as you move along through time -Sure there’s an element of chance in the game - just like in real life - but the consequences are never a determining factor to you winning or losing a game. - Last but not least: it’s historical! Looking forward to playing it again. Well done!
