Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Puzzly Euro with a very unique and well-integrated theme. Low rules overhead and simple turn structure that still gives players lots to think about. Excellent overall.

3/14/18: One play so far, but find it unique among my collection. You must re-create a series of spatial puzzles requiring set collection and pattern matching. There can be considerable AP for players who may find this type of game play especially challenging, but overall I think this is an exceptional game.

Another game that kind of broke my brain the first time I tried to figure it out! (The other one being The Bloody Inn.) A couple practice sessions in, and I think it's really neat. It feels like it will be an uphill battle to get this to the table with gamer friends, especially because nothing will entirely click until after one full game. But I bought it on sale, and plan to keep it around for a long time.
