Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Cape May is my second home. I was thrilled when this project was announced. I haven't played this enough to give a proper review, because this game has a classic board game feel to it...and not in a good way. It feels familiar, in the "I've been playing this for the past 4 decades" type of way. I'll be more than happy to pull this out whilst I'm vacationing in Cape May, but this won't hit the table any other time of year. I bought this for posterity, and it already feels like I've taken it out of a time capsule.

the randomness of the event cards are extremely annoying. I don't understand why anyone would want to spend precious actions acquiring bird tokens. Those two aside, the rest of the game is fine although nothing new under the sun:). The movement cards, action cards, and area majority is fine although some action cards seem much stronger than others (although it can be situational). I just don't see much replay value in it even if I enjoyed the game more.

It's one of those games that feels a bit too balanced for my tastes. Scores are going to be close, and it makes the game feel like it's so forgiving that it becomes difficult to make mistakes. The economy of the game works well enough, and the choices you make are simple enough that the game maintains a brisk pace.
