Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Really nice game, plays surprisingly well, fast game actions, and even our kids grasp the tactical decisions easily to enjoy the game. Was a big surprise for me. Can only recommend to have a look, if you want a bit more tactical than Carcassone (which is also a great game).

Another nice light game for the wife and family. Chocolate expansions have elevated and given this, much needed, new life!!! Must have, IMO.

An interesting tile-laying game, but I prefer Carcassonne. This seems a bit easier to pick up (no farmers laying dead in the fields), but I already learned Carc and therefore don't feel a need to switch over.
