Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

A fairly boring expansion with a couple of new modules: The diamond module is the worst. Cool looking gimmick, but not any interesting gameplay or rewards for doing it. It feels worse than most things, and it adds luck and no interesting skill to the game. The Emperor's Favor is fun and great, but all there is to it is a meeple. So you don't need it to buy this expansion to get it. The Tree of Life adds an interesting twist as you activate it by placing empty sides next to it. The new worker-tiles are good as well, but it becomes confusing how many tiles to use each game, and they don't really make the GAME more fun. Overall, I would not recommend this expansion as a whole unless you're a completionist, just stick to what you have.

Provides new modules, including the mine tiles which enable players to collect sets of 4 non-matching gems to trade in for valuable bonus masks

I'm not a hyge fan of diamonds/masks, but it's cool to have something new to dig for in the forrest. The tree of life is something that should've been already in the base game. The emperor is very nice knizian touch to the game.
