This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

[June 2019] Complex strategy game with a nice appeal. The cube pyramid action selection mechanism is the big thing here. Cool mechanic that interacts with the other game mechanisms well. When placing a cube on the board you get to do the action associated with the color of the cube. And also you are building a beautiful city on the board. But it can be hard to get your head around. There is a lot to manage. But there are also many roads to victory. Also for a complex strategy game there is too much that depends on luck, especially which roof houses are available too you. The building and roof placement part of the game is quite nice but over-powers the rest of the game making the fishing and lace-making elements a little redundant. I would have preferred a shorter game centred solely on the building, without the two additional sideline activities. The roof building as implemented does suffer from some randomness based on what tiles you draw. I did like the pyramid mechanic but it needs a different game to be in to have any relevance given the limited number of turns you have each round. Seemed to be a first turn advantage in going early in the turn order to get off to a good start. All in all a bit too much going on in terms of rules and game length for the amount of 'fun' delivered.
EYE of NiGHT
4 hours for a 2 player game, including learning it. And learning it was hard, so many odd rules that seemed hard to remember. We got confused especially by some of the scoring in the clean-up phase. We both liked the game but it seemed too much work for what resulted. The core mechanism of placing big cubes to place rooves to trigger scoring effects really worked. The bonus scoring cards seemed to work. But man was it hard to get money. We spent many actions just raising cash just to proceed with the game. It needs a game editor to really chop it down and pull it together. We did not think we played slowly, nor did we think it'd improve with more players. It was just a lot of work to get through. I would play it again but I'd play other games sooner.
