Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

TRADED IT! (for Nusfjord) Obviously this is a game driven by a "gimmick", and to this end, it does pretty good job implementing it. Buying/Adding/Turning pages for effect have intuitive and sensible effects, the issue however, is the game just runs itself... Each turn of the event book is resolved with players saying, "sure I guess I'll pick option B, as option A can't be performed"... You just kind of go through motions making obvious choices. The technology board felt really hacked out with taped on scoring effects. Card artwork is great. some of the graphic design choices are pedestrian, book/page quality is top notch... Just a mixed bag, but a ton of material for the cost of the game. In the end, it is a game worth playing exactly once for the curious, and is quickly forgotten, or held by collectors wanting to dig it out of the closet annually, re-read the rules, and show new players a unique theme.

This is okay - it is more gimmick than game, unfortunately. The books are a nice touch - they look nice and work naturally and logically. However, that's really the only thing the game has going for it. The biggest issue is that the game is not really long enough to feel like you're doing anything, but the things you are doing aren't that interesting so I am not sure I want it longer. The solo is pretty underwhelming too and I hate that the goal chart is in the middle of the rulebook, meaning you have to reset the chart every time you need or want to look up a symbol or rule.
