Bloodborne: The Card Game
30m - 45m
2 - 5 Players
Ages 14+
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Games where you repeat an action (or part of an action) until you decide to stop due to increased (or not) risk of losing points or your turn.
Press your Luck
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Bloodborne has a lot of success as it challenges players to balance cooperative and competitive play throughout the course of the game. Initially, there is a lot of excitement as you expand you arsenal and use increasingly complicated weapons to attack new monsters, each represented with beautiful artwork. Upon consecutive playthroughs, the game loses a lot of its novelty. The excitement of pulling new weapon cards seems to fade, and it feels like you spend more and more time headed to "The Hunter's Dream," which feels less like a strategic retreat and more like a forced timeout from the fun. Different boss cards breath some life back into the game, as will different players as you try to figure out how cutthroat they will play.

Quick and fun backstabbing experience of friendly fire and a lot of competing with each other. Surprisingly pleasant.

This perfect work of art cannot be improved upon, but then again there's an expansion, yet it still gets a full score of 10 from me, because it is that good!
