UPDATE: Finished the 4 book campaign. For a pure solo experience this is a good one! The anticipation of how the story will unfold with the different books is really good. However, as good as the story bits are I wish there was a more tangible connection between them. I felt like they had an interesting method on how to go about winning each story and a bit of a cleanup step at the end of each, but, the beginning of the next story didn't flow well from the last. Ultimately, they felt like 4 completely different games instead of a campaign, even though you carry over your stats and token placements from each game. Also, I was really looking forward to the final fight in book 4 but man, what a let down that was. There was some change-ups to the normal setup to make that particular story more challenging but the "boss" in that one was SUPER easy *ahem. Like, I had more trouble with the Mutant Leader from Book 2. Overall, book 4 was actually the weakest of the 4 books unfortunately which is a letdown considering there is all this buildup towards it. I'm going to start digging into the VS mode next to see how it plays with two players. I skimmed through the rulebook and it LOOKS like it works out pretty well with the enemy player having their own set of cards and tokens. Plus, most the rules stay the same for the hero player which makes it easier to jump into. I will update this once I have delved into the VS mode and the stand-alone missions a bit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Original Thoughts: Ok I am REALLY enjoying this one BUT there are just a couple nagging poorly designed (not gameplay related) issues that I have. First are the massively over-sized rulebooks. Like, why in the world did these things need to be this huge?! I think there are 6 of them, one for each phase of the campaign and another for the vs stuff etc. But these things are totally ridiculous being the same diameter as the box size. In no way will you be able to set the game up and have the rulebooks on the table with you to learn. This would just be an annoyance if you only had the one rulebook, but since you need to pull out a new one for every game in the campaign to learn the new rules, it becomes a complete aggravation. Second is the poorly thought out plastic insert. It has spaces for the tokens, cards and everything and the game board itself sits nicely on top of it all to presumably hold it all in place. However, there is a slight gap between it and the box lid....SO....of course when you put the game on the shelf vertically, which is how it is meant to be stored based on the text on the side of the box sleeve, everything spills out all over the place. Every time I open the box, all the different story cards are all mixed together and I have to spend a good 10 minutes sorting everything out before I can play. I really hate tossing nice inserts but for the sake of my sanity I might just toss this one and bag everything. As far as the gameplay goes the game is amazing! For a solo experience it is really good, especially if you enjoy Batman or the Dark Knight Returns storyline. I like Batman but have little knowledge of this particular storyline but am thoroughly enjoying the gameplay. It's kinda pandemic-ish where everything just kinda goes to hell over the course of the game and you have to manage as best you can to pull out a win. Disclaimer, I am only halfway through the game (starting story 3 tonight) but so far the game hasn't been all that challenging for me. I have beaten both story 1 and 2 during the beginning turns of round 3 (of 4) and didn't really feel much pressure in that regard. I did have one moment of fear when I got down to 1 health left but quickly started finding ways to heal and was maxed out on health by the end of the story (health carries over between stories). I like how you get added stuff to use like vehicles and new allies as the game progresses and I like the goal cards to give you something to do while you are cleaning up the streets. I didn't think I would like the dry erase marker stuff but it's actually pretty awesome here. You can draw new paths on the board to make movement easier and the game interacts with the drawn paths in some cases. Overall, I am really loving the game and could see it possibly going up to a 10 for me depending on how the last two stories turn out. Literally other than the huge rulebooks and shoddy insert this is an amazing game. OH! And I haven't even delved into the VS mode (for 2 players) or the standalone scenarios yet.

Too big, too much to set up, while the gameplay is just another type of Pandemic. Loved the theme but the game didn't embrace the theme well either. Sold.

Gran solitario. A dos funciona de forma correcta, pero preferiría otros juegos de enfrentamiento directo.
