This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.

Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A great way to play if you're by yourself and get the urge to get a quick game of Bargain Quest in. Not everything translates 100% perfectly so some balance/wonkiness issues are to be expected. Drafting is also mostly lost but there's quite a bit of uck mitigation built in. I do like that the solo rules allow for good digging through the store deck. Negative points for bad rules leaflet though (literally forgets to mention how the drafting/item card acquisition works...) and since I'm just personally less fond of high score solo modes. Though there is a loss condition so there's that. This might be the way for me to finally get those expansions played!

Errata (from Beta, missing from print run rules): During the Supply Step, instead of dealing the player 4 cards, draw a hand of 6 cards. You may then choose and discard any number of cards from that hand and draw cards from the item deck to replace them. Then, you may repeat this process once. Take these 6 item cards into your shop. (These cards are considered drafted for the purposes of effects like the Backpack and Bag of Holding item cards.)

Barely functions, one of the worst solo modes I have ever played. Rulebook is incomplete and unclear, I had to make a lot of assumptions from setup to ending.
