Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Very thematic game. Mostly mp-solitaire. But there is some direct interaction too: The dice game may be a very hard thing if you don't have enough money.

Same problem as Mage Knight. Everybody wanders off doing their stuff and what the other players are doing is mostly completely unimportant and unrelated to what I am doing. So essentially it is a solo game with added down time waiting for other players taking their turn.

FIRST IMPRESSION: One rule in the game really destroys the game for me and I would definitely house rule it to be 1-2 gold wagering at most. There is a mandatory gambling game where the person visiting the hotel must force a gambling game that everyone participates in and sets a value from 1-5 gold. In a game where gold can be quite challenging to acquire, particularly if you roll poorly, that can lead to quite nasty consequences such as losing an action card (and thus a turn). The game is otherwise enjoyable enough although the price tag is way too high for what the game brings to the table - we joked how it was a modern day dungeon dive except we were walking around experiencing life. It was also annoying how so many of the special characters were not that special. In the end, I was glad to have played but don't have much interest in playing again.
