Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

All of designer J. Alex Kevern's games, have a similar vibe: adjacent areas form synergies. This is a card drafting, pattern building game, in which you are building a column tableau of different colored paintings. Although this is among the simplest of Kevern's designs, I was unable to wrap my head around it - I am not a spacial guy. I had a difficult time deciding which type of card to draft and how to arrange it in my tableau. I found myself having an uncomfortable amount of AP. I like Sentient and World's fair, but this one was not for me.

There's nothing particularly wrong with this game, but it bothers me that the gameplay is so contrary to the theme. Why would you adding a red gallery make visitors go to other players' red galleries? Why are you, thematically, sometimes scoring points for what others are collecting? In addition, for a game about art the gallery cards are very washed-out looking. You should feel as if you are building an interesting and visually appealing gallery. The masterpiece tiles are the best art in the game--very clever twists on real masterpieces--but they are SO tiny it's almost insulting to the artist that made them!

Did not enjoy. The strategies were obvious, there weren't really any strong moments, and the game felt very flat.
